Dennis Hogge has performed quite a service in publishing this presentation of Mathew Brady's photographic journal of Manassas, Virginia. The National Archives offers a high resolution version of Brady's classic images and they are shown here in print for the first time. Nancy Dearing Rossbacher accomplished a masterful layout that showcases each image with detailed closeups extracted from various images. We have all seen Brady's work many times in books and periodicals--you have never seen them like this before. This is like seeing them for the first time. Dennis corrected a number of errors in location labels attached to certain images that have confused historians since the war. A fine job and a great visual addition to every collector's library.
