This is a 1st edition 1962 copy by Stackpole Books of William B. Edwards monumental study of Civil War firearms. The book has yet to be matched in scope or content by any authority since its publication fifty years ago. Edwards was a well-known authority on firearms from the time he was a young man. His knowledge of the subject became the stuff of legend. This masterpiece was five years in research, photographing, and writing. The book is hardbound, 8 1/2" x 11", 444 pages, heavily illustrated, with color dust jacket. Condition is excellent. From the collection of William S. Mussenden, yet another visionary in the field of Civil War publishing.
