Stanley S. Phillips published this groundbreaker in 1982. It has yet to be challenged and remains the best and only treatise on the subject. It has been out of print for several decades. This copy was signed by the author to Harry Roach, founder of Mlitary Images magazine. Both men were pioneers authors, resesrchers, and publishers in the field of Civil War collecting. The book is in overall excellent condition with only some common pale yellow "age spots" on the end papers, Pub page, and Table of Contents.
